At the heart of the Encode Restorative System is 3i's patented Encode healing abutment. Placed during
Stage I or Stage II surgery, the healing abutment enables the doctor to make impressions of an implant
without removing any components, placing copings, or taking X-rays. Rather, they rely on codes
embedded in the occlusal surface of the abutment. The doctor scans these codes from the cast with
an optical laser then uses the codes and CAD-CAM software to design a virtual abutment. Upon
completion, the design is milled from a solid piece of titanium alloy. Because the codes on the
healing abutments are anatomically precise, they result in a restoration with accurate margin height
and natural emergence contours like a traditional implant-level impression.
